Identify the conditions#
Compare a quiet-room sentence with the same sentence during ordinary background activity. Keep input and position fixed. Do not intentionally use coworkers’ private speech as test data.
Check that the intended microphone is selected. Try a different position or a quieter location before increasing input gain, which may amplify both you and the room. Short capture windows can reduce exposure to background speech but do not guarantee isolation.
Keep separate expectations#
Headphones that help you concentrate do not necessarily improve the microphone stream. A clean transcript also does not establish that coworkers cannot hear you. Assess capture, listening and outward disruption separately.
SPECS 01 targets reduced surrounding-voice interference, but its complete selective pickup has not been verified across office conditions. No universal 20 cm rejection boundary is established. Report the setup and intrusive phrase using non-sensitive material; do not convert one result into a perfect voice-isolation claim.
