# Use desktop utilities without confusing them with agent control

The Mac product material lists music control, prevent-sleep, mute and desktop-icon visibility utilities. These convenience controls are separate from sending instructions to a Codex task.

## Choose the intended effect
A desktop utility changes a local interaction or environment. A task reply asks an agent to do work. Before acting, identify which one you are using so a familiar label does not create the wrong expectation.

For example, preventing sleep concerns the Mac’s availability; it does not automatically make a remote workflow reliable. Muting audio does not reduce what your own spoken voice sounds like to coworkers. Music playback also does not prove microphone capture is using the expected device.

## Respect the scope
The reviewed release describes these utilities, but this library does not establish a complete matrix of supported music apps, full-screen configurations or managed-device policies. Use the controls visible in your version and inspect their effect.

If a utility behaves unexpectedly, report that action independently of speech and message delivery. Hardware speaker controls, future temple gestures and desktop utilities may eventually interact, but one delivered control should not be used to promise the others.
