# Migrate from an older CueSpec update source

CueSpec 0.2.1 and earlier, plus versions using the old GitHub update source, need one manual replacement with the published Mac package. Later updates use the current public update route.

## A careful migration
Download the current official universal ZIP and consult its installation note. Finish active recording and sending work, retain important unsent text if needed, then replace the old application through the documented installation route.

Reopen CueSpec and confirm the displayed version. Check your important drafts and permissions before resuming routine use. The reviewed migration test preserved drafts, attachments, model data and permissions on the tested machine.

## Do not confuse app and data
Replacing the app is different from deleting its local data. Removing history, settings or account information is not required merely because an old update source is no longer suitable.

If the version does not change, confirm which installed copy you launched. Avoid running two copies while assessing migration. Fresh Intel installations and some adverse scenarios remain outside the real-machine acceptance in the snapshot, so retain a useful report if your case differs. This guide does not alter the software license or make the private source repository public.
