# Use the live list and the all-task list

The live list focuses on current work and attention needs; the all-task list also includes older conversations. A task absent from the live list is not necessarily deleted.

## Choose the right view
Use live tasks for a quick check-in. Use all tasks to return to an earlier conversation, find an old draft or inspect history. In the reviewed Mac release, expired historical states are no longer mixed into the live list simply because the task once ran.

When reopening an old conversation, read its latest answer before replying. Its title may resemble a current project while its assumptions differ. A short instruction without context can mean something different there.

## If you cannot find a task
Check the all-task view and confirm that Codex is running in the expected environment. If needed, open the original conversation and recheck CueSpec. Do not immediately recreate the work, because that may split the context across two tasks.

These lists reflect the current Codex companion scope. They are not evidence of a delivered Windows, phone or multi-computer task dashboard. If a task’s state conflicts with Codex, retain the visible details and use the missing-task or stale-state troubleshooting guide.
